Custom-Designed Buildings
Most buildings that house child care centers in the Michiana area started out as something else – on office building or a church basement. The only thing that makes some of these places kid-friendly is little desks.
At Growing Kids, EVERYTHING is kid-friendly – because we created each building from scratch, just for kids.
Here are a few things that make Growing Kids special:
- At the heart of each facility is “Main Street,” a child-sized town that helps kids learn while playing “real life.”
- Windows are big and plentiful – designed to let lots of light in, and positioned low so kids can easily see out.
- Playground areas are fully equipped – and fully enclosed. And kids of different age groups play in different areas.
- All classrooms have child-sized sinks and bathrooms, and there are virtually no “blind spots” in the room layout that could obstruct the teacher’s view.
- Closed-circuit TV cameras allow staff to monitor activity in each classroom and throughout the facility. A phone in each room ensures quick communication.
- There’s only one way for outsiders to enter the building – through the monitored and code-locked main entrance. And all parents use a computerized, password-based sign-in sign-out process.
- Bathrooms have short “cut’off” doors that provide privacy but also enable teachers to supervise and assist if necessary.
- Hand washing sinks are located outside the bathrooms to keep little hands clean. A special rim keeps splashing water off the floor.
- Every child has a mail folder for special projects and notes to take home.
- Every classroom has a Parent View window so parents can see into the classroom.Blinds are on the hall side to make sure you can see.
- Little bodies need lots of water, so there’s a drinking fountain in every classroom.
