Proper surroundings are essential for learning and safety. To ensure this, Growing Kids starts from the ground up – literally. Each Growing Kids center is custom built to meet the needs of young children. Our classrooms and common spaces are specifically designed to support our educational philosophies. We do this because we believe it is the best way to create an environment that is safe, promotes child development, and supports early learning.

Main Street – To support our hands-on, directed play approach, we created Main Street, a child-size town large enough for any imagination. More than a gross motor space, Main Street is a learning environment for children to imagine, pretend, socialize, and dream about the world they live in.

Large Self Contained Classrooms – To promote a sense of stability and structure, Growing Kids has self-contained classrooms. Our classrooms are equipped for almost all activities of the day, limiting the number of transitions or moves to other classrooms throughout the day. The children enjoy their educational activities, meals and snacks, and rest period in one room – their room.

Bathrooms In the Classroom – Each class has its own bathroom(s) within the classroom. From a child’s perspective, it is comforting to know where the bathroom is. With child-size sinks close by, cleanliness is only a few steps away.

Parent View Windows – Every classroom has a Parent View Window. This is a window from the hall where a parent can see the activities of the class and their child without interrupting or being seen.

Playgrounds – The playground is our outdoor classroom, and is an important part of our day. Weather permitting, the kids enjoy time outside on a daily basis. Each Growing Kids Center generally has more than one  playground area, like a swing and equipment area or a grassy open area. Each promotes a different type of play and creates variety for the kids.

Classrooms and commons spaces – We believe it is important to separate classroom spaces from common spaces. Self-contained classroom spaces allow the children to focus on their activities and exploring, with limited outside distractions. Common Spaces (such as entranceways and hallways) are shared areas for families and staff to comfortably walk about and talk knowing that they are not interrupting the classrooms.

On-site Food Preparation – Growing kids need energy to fuel their minds and bodies. At Growing Kids we plan our menus according to state nutrition guidelines. Our meals and snacks are prepared on site by our qualified food service staff.
